Top 10 Reasons I Love Fall
10. Back to school. Three little words that make my heart sing.
9. Sweatshirt weather. Love, love, love it. So many awesome things about sweatshirts. The big yummy warmth, with or without a kangaroo pocket and hoodie. I’m not picky. The arms are nice too.
8. Cheap school supplies. This sorta goes with number 10, but I think it is so awesome it deserves it’s own number. A fresh box of pencils, or a new package of markers brings me such joy in a way it probably shouldn’t. But so does. Yum—crayola.
7. The leaves changing. I know this is so cliche, but I couldn’t talk about fall without at least mentioning the main reason for the season. Hey, hey. That rhymed. I can’t really think of anything more awesome than driving up the canyon on a late summer/early fall evening to roast smores with good friends by a campfire amongst the autumn hues. Simply Lovely. And if someone wants to go ahead and make that happen for me, I wouldn’t hate it.
6. Boot weather. Being able to wear your favorite pair of boots without sweating, or looking ridiculous. I love me some leather boots. So sue me.
5. Halloween. Yesir. That there just might be the best holiday ever invented. (Next to Christmas of course). But I mean really, an excuse to dress up and look ridiculous, and get pillow cases full of free candy? Sign me up. And the greatest thing is now that I have kids I’m back in the game. For a few years there between teenagerhood and kids it was a bit sketchy, but, now that I’ve got three kids I’m totally legit again.
4. Football. Now, I know what you are all probably thinking—did Hubs hijack this post? Heck no. I have to say, over the years I have come to accept, and even sorta LOVE football. Honestly. It is one of the only games I will watch on tv. Golf, yeah right, only if I’m in the mood for a good tv nap. Basketball? Too sweaty. And have you seen some of those men? Scary ugly. But men in tight pants throwing a ball around? uhhh, yes. You can thank Tim Riggins for this one.
3. The perfect weather. Lets be honest here. Winter—sucks. Spring—such a summer wanna-be. Summer—Stifling, uncomfortable heat. Plus no school. But fall? 65-70 degrees most days with an occasional 80, or 60 thrown in?. What more can I say?
2. The return of all my favorite shows. You can bet your bottom dollar I’m looking forward to new eps of Modern Family with Phil & Claire and all their crazy shenanigans. Plus, Glee and the new directions, and even that new show with my girl crush Zoe Deshanel looks pretty good too. Love me some fall tv. This reminds me. Remember TGIF? Full house, Family Matters, and that show with Suzanne summers? Ahhh memories. Good times, good times.
1. And last but certainly not least—my birthday. This might seem kind of self-centered, but this is my brag blog after all. So of course it’s all about me. For a while I thought hey, I’m just going to go ahead and ignore getting older, pretend it’s not happening, and then I realized, it’s going to happen whether I celebrate or not, so like the song says, I decided to just “celebrate good times come on!”. I mean, what constitutes a good time, besides a good old fashioned birthday? Nothing right? So, happy birthday to me, in like a month.
There ya have it. Fall rules. the end.

I’m BAAAAAck.
I think.
With school starting up again, it’s pretty nice to have a couple hours to myself each day. And today, I was actually sort of bored! I know, right? Amazing. Then, while I was sitting there trying to decide which closet I didn’t feel like cleaning out, it hit me. Do what you used to do when you wanted to avoid cleaning out closets: Blog. Duh. Even if no one reads this silly thing, it’s still sorta fun and I can rant about my children, and waste all sorts of time. I can’t promise blog magic, like back in the day, but I can promise awesomeness.
I think.

A must see for every human being. «
especially republicans. ;) LOVED everything about this documentary. Please, please, please see it if you can. It is only playing in select cities, but I can honestly say it is one of the most thought provoking pieces of art I have seen in a long while. Thank you Mr. Shadyac for sharing your journey.

PURPLICIOUS PARTY!! So, for Thing 2’s fifth birthday this year she decided she wanted a Purplicious birthday party. I love a good theme, gives me something to run with, and run I did. There are lots of ideas online for PInkalicious parties, but not many purplicious ones. But that’s okay, we basically just went crazy with the purple and it all worked out fine. We had pb&J sandwiches, grapes, and grape crush for lunch. I got some canvases at the craft store and let them paint (just like pinkalicious in the book). We did this first so they could dry while we ate lunch, played games (red light purple light, purple, purple, pink -also known as duck duck goose), and ate birthday cake and opened presents. I made the kids do heavy heavy hangover cause I loved that as a kid. Most of them had no idea what I was even talking about and looked at me like i was slightly crazy. Don’t people do this anymore? Well fyi- i’m bringing the bump on your head back. Three cheers for violence at parties! Anyway, as much as I love planning a party, boy am I glad it’s over. This year I tried to lower the stress levels by allowing her to only invite 5 kids. this is my new thing. The grinch that I am, I only allow my kids to invite as many friends as they are years old. This saves me money and just is so much easier. I found all the purple crowns and wands at the craft store for super cheap. And we made all the invitations and requested people wear purple. It ended up being a fun party. I think.

So, here are finally the pictures of our master bath/closet/bedroom addition remodel. It is still a work in progress, but so far I LOVE the way it has turned out. The bed is from CSN by Skyline Furniture. The bedside tables we bought at Country home furnishings and had them custom painted to match the vanities in the bathroom. The drapes and frames are all Ikea. And the ikat Chair? Best deal ever at a whopping $40 from Ross. All the bedding is from Target and Ikea. Colored pillows handmade out of Anthro towels. Wreath, made by yours truly.

target love

First off, we have these little beauties by Miss Tish for Target. Bought them for Thing 2 for summer. I love the teal color and gold beaded fish. Too fun.

This 32 piece spring shadow palette by ELF. Been having fun trying out some new shades as of late. And at $4.99 the price is just right.

Speaking of beauty products, I am loving my new Pixi sheer cheek gel stain. A bit pricey, but when you find something you like then I think it’s worth it.
Just a few of my favorite Target loves this week.
